Practice Statement on
Privacy
and the Use of AI
We do not use AI transcriptions or AI clinical documentation tools.
We believe that psychotherapy is a sacred practice. It is built upon confidentiality and the trust put into the therapeutic relationship.
We believe that when AI is invited into the room to transcribe every word spoken, we are violating the sacredness of the event and eroding the trust that people have in what they are saying remaining private between two people.
We don't believe there is a middle ground here.
When a therapist uses AI to record conversations, it is damaging the field, the therapeutic relationship, and important critical thinking skills.
If you are engaged in therapy with us, we will do our best to uphold privacy, and that means no use of AI in the session or to create documentation that involves sharing personal information with tech companies.
Privacy is a priority.
While we can not currently move away from our EHR system, Simple Practice, nor our email/voice systems, we are working on divesting from Google by Spring, 2026.
